Now we think if you're looking to hire a Pokémon bouncy castle you probably already know a bit about Pokemon, our boys love Pokémon Go the game and talk about little else! However in case you don't know about the Pokémon Go game we are going to give you a quick rundown of how it all works. We think that it's a fabulous game as it can be played without spending any real money and gets the kids out and about walking and not complaining about it!

What Is Pokémon Go?

Pokémon go is a free app available on Android and iPhones that combines a virtual gaming world with real-world places. The game uses GPS location tracking and mapping technology to create an augmented reality where players can catch, train and battle Pokémon characters in real life locations.

What is a Pokestop?

Pokémon go is now quite an established game and every town will have a selection of Pokestops. When you visit the stops you can spin the stop and will get rewards such as potions, revives, balls etc. Pokestops are often in locations of public interest such as listed buildings, town halls, public parks and that kind of place. You will need to frequently visit Pokestops to gain the balls you need to catch your favourite Pokémon.

Catching Pokémon "Gotta Catch 'em All"

The main aim of Pokémon Go is to complete your Pokédex and hence catch one of all the different kinds of Pokémon. You will encounter Pokémon anywhere out and about, just walking down the road and your local park etc. To catch the Pokémon you simply tap the Pokémon on your screen and a little red ball will appear at the bottom of your screen.  Simply swipe your screen and that little red ball will fly towards your Pokémon and the Pokémon will be enclosed in the ball. Pokémon can escaoe the ball, but if the ball wobbles 3 times, the capture is complete and the Pokémon will be added to your Pokedex.

Pokémon Gym Battles

One of the more interesting features in Pokémon Go is the gyms aspect of the game. There are three different teams in Pokémon Go - team Mystic, team Valor and team Instinct. You have to choose a team when you first start the game and it can be beneficial to join a team which already has a lot of players in your area. The reason for this is because you can take control of gyms and you get paid virtual gold coins for being in a gym for a certain amount of time. Now you can fight a gym to take it yourself but in doing this you're likely to kill several of your Pokemon whereas if you come across a gym which has less than the full amount of 6 Pokémon in it you can just drop one of your Pokémon in as long as it is is the colour of your team. Once you've done this you can just sit and wait for your coins to arrive. You can earn a maximum of 50 coins per day and can be used to purchase various power-ups and additions in the game.

Gym raids in Pokémon go

Another interesting feature in Pokémon Go is the gym raiding feature. Raids are ranked from one to five stars, one being the easiest and 5 being the hardest. Now the idea of Pokémon go from the start was to get people out and about and interacting with one another so whilst you can maybe do a 1 star raid on your own, you would need to attack a gym with several other friends in order to take down 5 star raid. The rewards however from the five star raids are a lot greater.  There are lots of groups on Facebook and discord where local players co-ordinate meet-ups to do some of the larger battles together and help each other. Talking of helping each other, another aspect of the game is that you can make friends with other people and the more you interact with those people through the game the more benefits you will receive so you can receive extra gifts little surprises etc.

I hope this is giving you some idea as to to what your children are talking about when they talk quite incessantly about Pokémon Go and will go some way to help you understand the positives of the game.
